Daio Floyd

Daio Floyd is a nationally and internationally recognized dog trainer with a lifelong foundation in working dogs, competitive sport, and real-world behavior rehabilitation. Raised in a legacy of elite German Shepherd training, Daio was immersed in dog training from early childhood and has spent decades developing a deep, practical understanding of canine behavior, communication, and performance under pressure.

She made history at just eight years old as the youngest competitor ever to enter an IGP national competition, a record that still stands today. Since then, Daio has titled multiple dogs through internationally recognized organizations, competing at both national and international levels in IGP—a sport that demands exceptional clarity, precision, and partnership between handler and dog.

In addition to her work in competitive and working dog environments, Daio holds a degree in Performing Arts, bringing a unique and highly refined skill set to her training. She has trained dogs to perform reliably in live stage productions, including theatrical performances of The Wizard of Oz, where precision, timing, environmental pressure, and distraction-proof behavior are essential. This background reinforces her expertise in training dogs to remain focused, responsive, and confident in complex, high-stimulation environments.

Beyond competition and performance, Daio brings extensive hands-on experience working with a wide range of behavioral challenges, including high-drive dogs, working-line breeds, and complex behavior cases. Her coaching emphasizes clear communication, consistency, and follow-through, helping owners build both skill and confidence in everyday life.

Daio is also deeply involved in the rescue and professional training community, dedicating significant time to preparing rescue dogs for successful placement and mentoring developing trainers. Her work reflects a balance of technical excellence and human-centered coaching—bridging high-level training skill with practical, accessible guidance owners can apply long after each session ends.
